    Medieval, but effective
These things look absolutely bonkers on our couch, but they worked immediately. We have three dogs with different personalities and degrees of intellect and getting them to stay off the couches is impossible. When I first got these mats I slammed my hand down on them as well as sat down hard to make sure they wouldn’t cause any injury. Are they comfortable? No. But stepping on a Lego would hurt worse. Our dogs don’t even try to get on them. They also have the added bonus of keeping our almost two year old from climbing up into our couches by herself and falling off. I just had to lightly touch her hand to these mats and tell her they were “ouchie” and she stays far away. They are easy to stack and move off if we want to sit. Our couches are finally dog hair free and don’t have massive stinky lick spots. I love these weird spike mats. Highly recommend.

Keep your dog off your couch
I may be mean, but I do not like my dog on my couch. These pads totally keep your dog off your couch. if you accidentally set on it, I’ll keep you off at to. lol

THE WORST SMELL YOU CAN IMAGINE!
I wish I had looked at the reviews more carefully. Several reviews state that these mats have a horrible smell. That is a huge understatement! These mats do NOT just smell like new that “new plastic smell” when you open a product… the closest thing I can use to describe the smell is SKUNK. My dog has been skunked twice, so I am very familiar with the smell. When we use these mats I have PTSD flashbacks from her getting sprayed. We tried airing them out, outside, for over a week. I wiped them down with multi-surface cleaner, and even tried using bathroom bleach cleaner on them… NOTHING GETS RID OF THE SMELL!!!. If anything, it seems like it is getting stronger. When we attempt to use them, the entire house smells like we have a skunk living with us. Not to mention how “overpriced” this product is. When purchasing, the options jump from a 2 piece set to 4 piece set….to 8 piece set for some reason. Not sure why they skipped 6 pieces. But for over $80, I expected a better quality product. What ever you do, do not purchase these mats.

Works great but they smell awful
We got these to keep our sons dog off the furnature. Works great but the smell is awful. It has been weeks now and it is not getting better. Even tried soaking them in the tub..Sadly they have to go back. I hate the smell

    Product description accurate
These mats are a great size as they cover an entire cushion so my dogs can’t step around them. The down side is they stink & hopefully that goes away soon. They also don’t have a way to grab them without getting poked but at least you know what your pet feels! So far they are working at keeping my 5 dogs off the furniture.

Non-conventional use.but appears to do what I need
My daughter takes softball pitching lessons at a local indoor facility. The facility has dedicated pitching lanes, but the rubber is only colored turf and offers no tactile feedback of pushing off the rubber. I’ve made drive mats in the past for her, but even with the best backings, they tend to slide on turf. Saw another product that offered a compromise – just the rubber and a small patch of turf with a spiked mat to keep it in place. Brilliant but not for the > $100 price they were asking. Used these mats along with carpet glue and artificial turf I had lying around and one of her portable pitching rubbers and we have a winner. What makes these work is the nubs are solid and the material pliable. Unlike some of the other deterrent mats, these are very durable and can be walked on without damaging the spikes or the mat itself.

    Better then scat mats
I had used scat mats for many years due to a very sneaky cat who always found a way to learn when the batteries were low, or dead, and he constantly got on my table and dining room chairs. Love my cat Charlie, but it was starting to get annoying with his hair everywhere and not to mention kitty sand that without fail stuck on his paws, 🤮 These mats were placed just once on our new dining room chairs and table and he has since never attempted to get on them. Yes they are sharp teeth, would really hurt to jump on them, but it would only take one time to settle that issue. I’ve looked at his paws several times to see if he has any damage, but never has. They could hurt even when you adjust to fit your chairs, but cats got to learn. And boy he sure has. No longer do I worry about the chair cushions full of hair or the table sprinkled with kitty litter dust. I’ve checked his little paws continuously, not once have I noted any wounds from the mats. Love this product, wish I knew about it long before I wasted hundreds on the scat mats

    Cats still walking over them
The concept is good, but these are not an effective deterrent. I covered my counters completely with these plastic sheets. But my cats still walk all over them. Maybe their desire to be on the counters outweighs any slight discomfort they may feel walking on them. Or maybe these sheets will work with other cats. But the price of the sheets makes them too expensive to just test them out. I have several and they don’t work for my cats. I would not buy these.

It worked cause it would slip off the counter which scared the cats, but once they got their bearings, they had no problem walking, jumping or laying on it
